    Community Centre Management Committee

In 1996, the Yew Tee Community Centre started out modestly at the void decks of Blocks 541 and 542 Choa Chu Kang Street 52. Despite the limited facilities, the Yew Tee Community Centre Management Committee and its various activities groups were able to turn the Community Centre Award for 1998 and a Merit Award for 2000.

The awards are testimony to the Yew Tee CC's efforts in organizing a wide range of activities and programmes. Over the last five years, the CC has successfully promoted healthy lifestyles among residents through activities such as family walk-a-jog, health talks and workshops, telematch events, baby shows, various dance forms, and various fitness and sports activities. Awareness and appreciation of the Arts and Culture are promoted through regular concerts, multi-racial martial arts demonstrations and mass displays, and annual Chinese, Malay and Indian cultural festivals. The Yew Tee CC also co-organise major events with other organisations, such as an Arts Outreach concert with the National Arts Council and annual Chinese Calligraphy Competitions with the Chinese Calligraphy Society of Singapore.

On 1 August 2001, the Yew Tee Community Club commenced operations at the new Yew Tee Community Building. The Yew Tee Community Club Management Committee (CCMC) will continue to guide and work closely with its various activities groups- Senior Citizens', Women's, Youth, Indian Activity and Malay Activity Executive Committees, and Sports Development Committee, to ensure that the CC will continue to offer more and better courses and activities to meet the varied educational, social, cultural, recreational and sporting need and interests of residents. It already has plans to capitalise on the modern and better facilities at the new and stylish CC to offer a full range of activities to suit and enhance today's lifestyle in Yew Tee.

The Yew Tee CCMC has also set up a Karaoke Lounge and the Yew Tee E-Learning Centre. These are joint projects with the PAP Community Foundation Yew Tee Branch. The CCMC will continue to look for opportunities for more of such joint projects with the various Yew Tee grassroots organisations.

The Yew Tee CCMC operates on the basis of its vision of ensuring that the Yew Tee Community Club remains a vital hub and play a big part towards making Yew Tee a vibrant community and home we are proud to call ours. To this end, it looks forward to the continued support of residents and all grassroots organisations of Yew Tee.
