    Neighbourhood Police Centre

On 30th June 1999, Choa Chu Kang Neighbourhood Police Centre (NPC) was officially launched at its temporary site, located at No 51 Choa Chu Kang St 51. The introduction of the NPC system is to bring to the community a one-stop Police Service. With this new strategy, the Singapore Poloce Force (SPF) would also be able to combat and deter crime more efficiently and effectively through better deployment of our manpower and police patrol during the crime-prone hours.

In 2003, not only is Choa Chu Kang NPC successful in achieving its primary target of bringing down the crime rate, the NPC is also active in events with external organisations such as the GROs or even with the neighbourhood residents. Thus a close rapport is being built between the NPC and the members of public within the Choa Chu Kang, Yew Tee and Keat Hong's estates.

"To each his best, and Yet as ONE"

One of the events that the NPC has organised is the Community Safety and Security Programme (CSSP) Seminar. An annual event, this programme creates a platform whereby the community can get together to address their own safety and security concerns. IT also enables the police to work together with the community leaders in coming up with new initiatives to increase the level of safety and security of the neighbourhood. Other annual events include the Yew Tee Resident's Day and the Emergency Preparedness Day.

In 2004, Choa Chu Kang NPC received the South West CDC Gold Award. In addition, Yew Tee Zone 4 RC has also been awarded the NWZ Merit award in the latest NWZ competition. In term of the most valuable assets, which are the police officers, the NPC have two cases of rejection of bribes recently. The officers, well guided by their integrity, did not succumb to the temptation of being offered a bribe by some illegal immigrants and instead arrested the offenders on the spot. They are indeed shining example for all of us to emulate.

Despite all these achievements, there is still a long way to go. We will continue to move forward as a unit, to be the renowned NPC throughout Singapore.
